What’s the craziest thing that happened to you over the
weekend?  Sherrie may have you beat. The Texas grandmother was just sitting at home when something crashed through her
ceiling . . . ricocheted through a bedroom like a bouncy ball . . .
and then landed next to a TV. Her grandson went to check and found a hole in the ceiling. Then Sherrie saw a rock that she immediately knew was actually a meteor. That sounds crazy, but she was apparently right on the money. NASA confirmed that
there was a meteor in the Houston area. It weighed about a TON, with a diameter of THREE FEET. Fortunately…it wasn’t that one! Sherrie’s was just a meteor fragment about the size of a baseball. Thankfully no one was in the room at the time, so everybody is ok.

  • A group of Harvard Students who spent their spring break doing construction work in Decatur…. instead of time at the beach. Working alongside Habitat for Humanity of Morgan
County, the students helped build homes in the Heritage Creek development.

  • Then we have a 16 year old who’s invented towels that stay cool for hours…with a simple snap. Harrison started “CoolTowel” in his bedroom and his since shipped more than 30,000 orders. He also
    won 200,000 for his invention.

  • A group of teens is taking on Pickleball waste. Their project, Another Bounce, turns discarded balls into new products and pushes manufacturers to create take-back programs. They hope
to set a world record for recycling them. You can find them on instagram.

  • And Girl Scouts in Florida recently donated 500 boxes of cookies to its homeless residents. The boxes were handed out at Our Father’s Soup Kitchen.

About Abby:

Originally from Rock Falls, Illinois, Abby has been in radio for almost 30 years, and in the Huntsville market her entire career, with the last 16 at Mix 96.9. She started out as the midday host for the first 9 years, and has since transitioned into host of the morning show.

Abby loves spending time with her husband and 2 kids, and her beautiful granddaughter – eating at her favorite Mexican restaurant and most of all shopping for shoes! Her favorite vacation destination is the beach! One thing she couldn’t live without…a good cup of coffee anytime of the day!

About Bill:

Being from Connecticut, Bill is a huge New England Patriot fan! His career in radio began there and has taken him through Massachusetts, Central Pennsylvania…and along the journey, he’s met some pretty cool people – Sting, Van Halen, Aerosmith, TobyMac, Lauren Daigle and more!

Bill and his wife have three kids, two of which attend the University of Alabama Huntsville, and they all definitely take advantage of the fact that his ears “are shot”!

As the Mix 96.9 Morning Show Co-Host and “Traffic Guy”, Bill adds his quick wit and humor to the morning show along with making sure you know everything you need to know in order to get to and from work safely Monday through Friday morning and afternoon.

When not hanging out in the Mix 96.9 studio, he and his wife take advantage of all the great sights and sounds, and, of course, the local food scene in and around the Huntsville area!
